We had a fun night.  Our son had made a croquet course in the backyard similar to a goofy golf course, and he wanted to do that for our FHE activity.  Because it gets dark so early my husband came up with a great idea–how about we do FHE backward tonight?  So, we called the kids saying, “For time it’s children, Evening Home Family!”  Then we walked backward to the front room.  We began with the closing prayer, then treats, then did the activity outside, followed by a short lesson, the Family Night Song and an opening prayer.  It was a really fun night, and the “out of the box” approach invited playfulness in all of us.  My husband initiated a game of simon says, but the players had to do the opposite of the directions that were given.  For example, “Stand up” meant we all sat down.  It was interesting to see the different interpretations of what the opposite of “Put your hands by your side” were!  We enjoyed the laughs and the fun memories!  That’s what Family Night is all about!
